Katy Perry and Cat Weigh in on Swine Flu

The frenzy over swine flu may be fading out, but the jokes keep on coming.

Among celebrities, on late night TV and across the Internet, swine flu (officially re-branded the “H1N1 flu,” a name change about as likely to stick as Prince’s multi-symbol moniker) has turned into a punch line. It seems a natural fate for a pandemic associated with pigs and masks from the Michael Jackson accessory collection.

Singer Katy Perry is the latest star to speak out about swine flu.

“Since swine flu is super trendy I wanted to make sure I was in style with my swine flu ring!” Perry wrote on her personal blog May 1. She also posted a photo of the crystal-encrusted pig-with-wings bauble.

In case anyone was wondering, Perry shared her cat’s thoughts on the pandemic as well: “Kitty Purry was telling me the other night that she remembers when bird flu was in and now pig flu is cool and she wonders when kitty flu is gonna hit, as she would like to be more popular than she currently already is … fame whore.”
